Christmas tree raises money for local charities

An outdoor Christmas tree delighted a group of children last week and is helping raise money for local charities.

The children danced and sang carols as the lights on the tree were switched on for the first time.

Argus Insurance encouraged the local business community to help them to raise funds for charity by purchasing decorations for the Christmas tree, which is placed opposite Regal House in the corner below the American Memorial steps.

The company provided branded Christmas decorations to be placed on the Christmas tree.

Tarryn Gomez, Chairperson of the Argus Insurance Charity Committee, said: “Our charity committee is always looking for innovative ways to raise funds for charities and Christmas is such a wonderful time of giving. We’re delighted by the amount of support we’ve received from the all the companies in the vicinity and would like to thank them for their support.”

The official lighting of the Argus Christmas tree took place on Thursday December 3.

All funds raised will be donated to GBC Open Day, Wobbles Children’s Charity and Research into Childhood Cancer.
